I will second what Bob said above. I think this is awesome and I hope you keep doing the site. I am a very new dad - with a 6 week old boy, so it will be some time before he can skate - but I still skate when I can. Great tips on this site! I love the tips about skating at lunch!

Great job - keep it up and keep shredding.

Well done. I introduced my son to skateboarding when he was 3 or 4 yrs old - i don't want him to be the next Ryan Sheckler or anything like that. I just wanted him to take part in something that was non competitive, team/jock orientated. He would come back from Soccer practice when he was 4 or 5 yrs old, all dejected if was on the losing side or didn't score, or picked for the team. He's been skating solidly for a while now, and his 5 yr old brother started a year or so ago. We all go out as family and it amazes me how most people are so friendly and accepting. If you skate you skate - doesn't matter how good you are, or how old you are, or what race you are. I would recommend it to anyone - yes if over the age of 30 yrs old it does hurt a bit more, and your balance is not as good as it was, but you relearn those skills fairly quickly.

I had many Natas boards... at first I thought they were weird because they literally had no nose (maybe like an inch). But once I started riding them I loved them.

Hey, Just wanted to let you know that what you are doing is awesome. I myself am a former sk8er. I skated from the time I was 12 till i turned 18. Who knows why i stopped. My son who is seven decided he wanted to try skateboarding. So instead of buying some cheap boad at Wal-Mart, I got hima good one and me one also. I don't want him to get the wrong idea about skaters and there isn't a whole lot of 7 yearold skaters around here. So I agreed to be his skate buddy..lol So I myself am having to relearn some tricks and get back inshape. I was doing some research and ran across you site here and just thought it was awesome that there is another sk8 dad out there. Two thumbs up to you...

Hey Bro
I remember Natas. Man he was the ollie king. What about Ron Kanoley? Was that his name? Or Ron Kanoy? He was a black guy with hige dreds and he always wore the huge limpies pants.

I am a 36 year old skater dad. I skate with my 8 year old and am currently building him a 12/4 miniramp. I skate a mike vallely. I have always skated his and ed templeton decks.

Any footage of templeton?

Anyway, thanks for posting!

God Bless

um....I'm guessing something happened to this blog. Maybe he's just busy with two kids and trying to skate. As more and more of us get older and have kids this catagory of skate dad will grow and grow. Our fathers didn't skate so this in a way is new territory. Like for instance, try flipping through a thrasher with your two boys on either side of you and run into a hookups add......or all the language and references to beer, weed, guns and girls....Skate dads have a ton of challenges, but the payoff of being able to skate with your sons and daughters is huge. Having a miniramp in the back yard is key and will help eleviate the pressure of making park sessions so intense.

Thanks man. It's good to know I'm not the only one who decided to search for the fountain of youth on a piece of wood.
Next post, let us know who makes the good equipment nowadays.(Trucks, wheels, etc.)
